New Attwood Green Health Centre Visited and I Win a Competition

The £13million Attwood Green Health Centre replaces the previous Colston Health Centre on Bath Row and serves a patient population of around 16,000. It has a wide range of health and care services including GP facilities, NHS out-of-hours dental services, an onsite pharmacy, physiotherapy, outpatient clinics, speech and language services, a stop smoking clinic, sexual health services and space to accommodate health visiting teams. These facilities are undergoing a phased introduction, with the building expected to be fully operational within the next few months. The Hyman GP Practice has already moved in and the Bath Row Medical Practice will transfer there on 11 March. The whole centre is designed to make for a relaxed atmosphere for patients.

About a year ago I visited the Colston Health Centre in Bath Row and noticed an appeal for photographs to be hung in the new Attwood Green Health Centre, also in Bath Row, the theme being Birmingham and Water.

Victoria Square Fountains and the Council HouseWell, I submitted the photo shown here and was  lucky enough to have it chosen as the winning entry.

Last week I visited the new centre to a ceremony commemorating the hanging of all the chosen photo submissions around the building. Mine, with others is on show in the Community Room.

Picture presentationI and third prize winner, Tony Fisher, were presented with prints of our photos by Jenni Ord, Chair of the Birmingham and Solihull Cluster and Mark Martin, director at One Creative Environments Ltd and Arts Co-ordinator for Attwood Green Health Centre.
