Revamped New Street Station is a Hit

OD4A6788On Sunday last, 20 Sept 2015, the £540m revamp of New Street station was officially opened to the public after six years of development by a workforce that peaked at 3000. As many of us KEW residents must be station users I thought you might like a preview if you haven’t had chance to visit it yet.

Wandering around on the day I found many fellow visitors wore surprised and delighted expressions and to use an overworked verb appeared “wowed” by the whole site.

Above the platforms lies an extensive, bright and airy enclosed area with a large glass roofed Atrium and a huge variety of restaurants and shops for both the traveller and the shopper.

At last Birmingham has a main train station that presents a magnificent welcome to visitors and holds up well against any other in the world.

For more details and a photo gallery visit my article on BrumCityCentre.com which takes you on a tour of the station.
