Dragonboat Festival June 2014

OD4A4342The Dragon Boat Festival held today 28 June 2014, a race of chinese canoes, takes place annually to raise money for charities.

It’s great fun for all canoe teams and very competitive!

Organised by Brindleyplace their website says:

Brindleyplace is celebrating the 15th anniversary this year setting an ambitious fundraising target of £50,000 which will be donated to local charity HelpHarryHelpOthers.

Taking place on Saturday 28th June, 20 teams will battle it out in a series of races along the canal from Pitcher and Piano, in Brindleyplace, up to the winning post at the NIA.

On the day, the weather was very rainy, and although this reduced the spectator attendance, it did not dampen the spirits of the teams.
