Jerry has asked if I can inform KewBirmingham website followers of the Society’s activities which I believe could be of great enjoyment to Residents whether drama enthusiasts or just seekers of an interesting (and low cost) evening’s entertainment.
“We are soon to be performing as the Vicar and Jim (no,no,no,no,no)Trott in the the Vicar of Dibley. As this is our first show whilst living here we have arranged a concessionary rate* for fellow residents.
SCURC are delighted to invite residents of KEW to “The Arrival” of the Vicar of Dibley in Sutton Coldfield shortly followed by the marriage of Mr Hugo Horton to Miss Alice Tinker.
This is an amateur performance, in support of Comic Relief by kind permission of Richard Curtis, Paul Mayhew-Archer and Tiger Aspect Productions.
The audience is invited to witness the “Arrival” of the new Vicar of Dibley, Geraldine Grainger, as she battles to win over a sceptical Parish Council and to celebrate the wedding of Alice Tinker and Hugo in “Love & Marriage”. When the ancient vicar of Dibley dies suddenly, the parishioners are surprised to find that the Bishop has appointed a woman as their new vicar. Geraldine Grainger, the new vicar, is aided (sort of) by the verger, Alice Tinker and opposed at practically every turn by David Horton, chairman of the Parish Council.”
The Society only put on two productions a year so this is a rare opportunity to sample what they can do and have a good laugh!
The dates, in 2014, are:
Thursday 6 February 7:30pm
Friday 7 February 7:30pm
Saturday 8 February 5:00pm
and the venue:
Sutton Coldfield United Reformed Church
1 Brassington Avenue
