Christmas lights switch-on and Christmas Parade
The lights are going up in the city centre already. They will be switched on followed by a colourful parade around the city centre starting at 5.30pm on Saturday 9 November. You won’t be able to miss it if you start at Victoria Square. It’s quite a spectacle that improves every year.
Great for children both young and old. Great Christmas atmosphere. Look out for the snowfall in Victoria Square. Click here to find out more. Here are a few photos from last year.
Frankfurt Christmas Market and Birmingham Christmas Craft Market
I don’t have to sell this nationally popular attraction to KEW Residents, I’m sure. It returns for its 12th year and promises, as always and without exaggeration, to be BIGGER THAN EVER! It starts on Thursday, November 14 and closes on Sunday 22 December 10am to ppm every day.
It takes 4 days to build the Market and one night to remove it – yes by 10am on the 23 December there will be little evidence that there was ever such a vibrant venue there!
The Christmas Craft Market also returns for its 9th year and is usually a good place to find unusual Christmas presents.
With the new Library of Birmingham now completed and the removal of its building site, this year the festive offerings will extend from the ICC/Symphony Hall end of Centenary Square down to Corporation Street, a distance of over 1100 yards. Here are some photo memories of recent years.
Get your skates on!
After a break of 5 years the Ice Rink is to return to Centenary Square. This popular event attracted old and young for a bit of fun – skater or not!
To complete the experience there was a bar and Frankfurt Market fast food stalls around it.
It will start on Sunday 17 November and finish on Sunday 5 January and open from 10am to 10pm every day. Click here to find out more and maybe book your tickets in advance. Below are some photos from the last event.
